The incident came about between the Cavimbe and Cangumbe stations on Thursday and concerned a prepare hauling sulphur, Lobito Atlantic Railway (LAR) stated in a press release.
No casualties had been reported and repairs on the broken 400 metres of monitor can be achieved over 4 days, the corporate added.
“LAR will prioritize the passenger trains and the gas trains, resuming worldwide sulfur and copper trains thereafter,” the corporate stated.
LAR, a three way partnership backed by international commodities dealer Trafigura, Portuguese building group Mota-Engil and railway operator Vecturis, was in 2022 granted a 30-year concession to function the 1,300 kilometre rail community.
