The Boston-based firm says it has invented a singular lithium metallic battery that swaps nickel and cobalt for vanadium – enabling it to make lithium batteries from scratch going from “from brine to battery” in lower than 48 hours.
In July, Pure Lithium gained the startup Coup de Coeur award on the World Supplies Discussion board for its battery-ready lithium metallic electrode, and acquired the most effective new challenge award at Fastmarkets, competing towards a number of extra mature corporations.
In the meantime, Dimien developed a category of vanadium-based cathode materials often called zeta vanadium oxide (ZVO).
The corporate says this low-cost cathode materials has excessive power density and doesn’t trigger fires like some nickel-cobalt-manganese (NCM) and nickel cobalt aluminum oxide (NCA) cathodes.
Dr. Brian Schultz, founder and CEO of Dimien, will be a part of Pure Lithium within the position of vp of enterprise improvement and expertise.
“This asset buy will expedite the commercialization of our LVO battery. Dr. Schultz and his crew have taken ZVO from a college science challenge to commercially related prototypes, which cycle fantastically towards our lithium metallic,” Pure Lithium CEO Emilie Bodoin stated in a information launch.
“We’ve got a lithium metallic electrode manufacturing expertise that dramatically reduces prices, and along with our LVO battery expertise, we are going to deliver to market a next-generation battery that’s superior to lithium-ion in efficiency and security,” Bodoin added.
“Eliminating graphite, nickel and cobalt is disruptive for the business and can guarantee US provide chain safety ending dependence on China.”
